Jason's primary practice is in the areas of criminal defense and domestic law.

"People sometimes ask me, 'how can you defend someone who is accused of doing bad things to good people?' My answer is simple, what if that person accused were you, or your father or mother, or your son or daughter? Our criminal justice system is the greatest system ever conceived for one simple reason; everyone, everyone, is innocent until proven guilty. And in this country everyone has an opportunity to defend their rights."

Before attending Washburn Law School, Jason worked in business and finance.

"I studied business at Emporia State. After college my wife, Carrie, and I moved back to our home town of Valley Falls. I even served a term on the City Council there. I was a member of the Economic Development Committee, and Treasurer for the City of Valley Falls and for the Chamber of Commerce. I served on the Jefferson County Business Development Committee for a couple of years. I have always taken great pride in my service to the community and I use that same attitude of service in the representation of my clients. The same team-building skills and my ability to develop business and personal relationships help me to find fast and efficient solutions to complex problems and difficult situations."

"I went to law school because I wanted to be able to fight for those who can't fight for themselves. It is an awe inspiring thing to be able to stand next to someone and defend their rights, to examine their accusers, or to represent their interests to the Court. We are always behind our clients, but sometimes it's necessary to stand in front of them."

Jason joined the firm as an associate in October 2007 after graduating from Washburn Law School. During law school Jason clerked for the firm and worked as an intern for Jim Reardon, a Certified Financial Planner. Prior to law school he worked as an accountant and financial specialist where he provided corporate clients with accounting and fiscal management reports adding insight into the operations and administration of their various businesses. During that time he also hosted educational investment seminars and training classes for the accounting firm's clients and to the public. Jason also has four years of banking experience, and he graduated from Emporia State University with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration and a Minor in Economics.
